Copenhagen Fashion Week: very cold, but very cool

With an iced-over river, sub zero temperatures and a numbing wind chill factor taking Copenhagen’s thermometers down to a ten year low it is easy to be just a little jealous of all those buyers that stayed in the merely-chilly UK. But then one quick perusal of the aisles at super-cool show Gallery and any fashion lover’s cockles are suitably warmed.
After two days of the show – and despite a few exhibitors complaining about relatively sparse footfall – Fashion Buyer has stumbled across a smorgasbord of old favourites and new gems.
More on that in later posts; for now, a quick round up of the key womenswear looks. In terms of the palette, a very clear direction sees the Scandi-brands team darks with nudes and cosmetic shades. Military olives and rich plums also come through. Pretty laces and gossamer thin knits contribute to a romantic revival of boho, as Karl Lagerfeld’s influence continues to work its magic on womenswear, with washed leather biker jackets and biker pants – in leather and ribbed wool panels – bringing the hard edge.
Other key pieces are high waisted silk pants, cropped knits, softly cocooned silk tops, and lightweight velvet pieces including vest tops and dresses.
