There is no let up in the emergence of labels drenched in vintage Americana this season and Terminal 2 played host to a particularly articulate one in the form of Knowledge Cotton Apparel (KCA) – a brand name that wears its heart on its sleeve if ever there was one. Though KCA itself was launched just three years ago, it springs from a Danish mill that has been specialising in – surprise, surprise – cotton, since 1969.
KCA currently has about 300 doors, mostly in Scandinavia, but has signed to the Gallery Agency for autumn 10 as it bids for fame in the UK. And why not? This is a range of beautifully crafted men’s products from denim and wide gauge corduroy trousers to denim-style and washed-out striped cotton shirts, ribbed and cabled knits, padded Puffa-style outerwear and duffles, sweats and lumberjack shirts.
A range of around 50 styles comes out four times per year with prices of about £16 for T-shirts, £32 for shirts, £120 for jackets and from £40 for knits on a 2.7 markup, but these are just rough translations from the Danish prices, so there may be some variation in the UK.
