Man Fashion: Williamson For Men

    Contributed by Charlie Johnson

    Charlie

Matthew Williamson has broaden his horizons and created his first men’s line set to be launched in time for Spring/Summer 2010; his individual use of bright colours and extravagant patterns has been continued within his opening male collection.

For those who is not familiar with Matthew Williamson, is an English fashion designer. His collections are shown twice a year during New York Fashion Week, and they often have an Indian influence, perhaps related to the time Williamson spent working in India for the clothing store Monsoon. He counts celebrities such as Björk, Cat Deeley, Sienna Miller, Kelis, Jade Jagger and Plum Sykes amongst his friends.

After the success of his Matthew Williamson for H&M collection it’s easy to predict how popular his first male designs will be; the items which will only available be in London, New York and Dubai (in his stores and Harrod’s) customers will literally fly to get the first piece Williamson for men.

The capsule collection which includes silk scarves, cashmere sweaters and a range of brightly coloured t-shirts isn’t designed for the faint hearted male; but why should women only enjoy his clothes, take a road trip to your nearest store and bring Williamson into your wardrobe.

His first capsule collection which includes silk scarves, cashmere sweaters and a range of brightly coloured t-shirts; is set to sell quicker than his high street range and with it only being available in New York, London and Dubai people are set to literally fly to get it.Source URL: http://icip2idayusof.blogspot.com/2010/01/

Milan Fashion Week: Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2010 Collection

Looking back to Milan Fashion Week, Dolce & Gabbana led the way with one of its strongest presentations in seasons, using Giuseppe Tornatore’s new film, “Baarìa,” as the starting point for a Sicilian-inspired collection highlighting Italian tailoring and distressed work wear.

If only Michael Corleone had these threads on hand when he was hiding out in the motherland. They're everything a macho, sexy, tough Sicilano could want, from long johns tucked into worker boots and henleys to Sunday-best suits looked especially sharp when contrasted with worn-out tank tops.

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year, and their attention is clearly in the right place.

Paris Fashion Week: Hermes Fall/Winter 2010 Collection

Hermes stepped back from the fashion fray on Saturday by delivering a collection of timeless pieces that willfully snubbed trendiness.

The storied label's menswear offerings for fall-winter 2010-2011 made nearly no concessions to the fads that have swept other Paris catwalks, including proposing slouchy longjohns as a stand-in for pants and relieving blazers of their sleeves. Hermes' menswear designer, Veronique Nichanian, served up to-die-for suits with straight-leg pants remarkable only for their perfect cut and sweaters that retired French soccer international Lilian Thuram — a front row guest — said he was already coveting.

The rest of the pieces — which included slim overcoats worn with leather belts, velvet jackets in slate and mauve and cashmere V-neck sweaters — were timeless in a manner befitting a house that has been forging a reputation for handmade excellence since its start as a saddle maker in 1837.

Pink Wedding Dresses

Pink Wedding Dresses & Pink Bridesmaid Dresses

pink wedding dressesIf you want to give your big day a youthful feel, you should look into the option of pink wedding dresses & pink bridesmaid dresses. Though most brides usually go with a variety of white for their wedding gown, if you want to really stand out, you should consider a shade of pink for your big day dress. Though not always publicized very well, most wedding dresses do come in colors other than the tradition white or ivory variation. You can always pick your dream dress and then see what it takes to get it in pink if it isn't already manufactured in the shade you want.

Another option for a bride wanting a pink wedding dress is to look at stores that also sell prom or bridesmaid dresses. You can always get a prom or bridesmaid dress and add special touches to make it seem more like a dress worthy of the bride. Glitzy jewelry, shoes and hair can dress up any gown. If you decide to purchase a pink prom or bridesmaid dress to use as your bridal gown, just make sure the bridesmaid dresses aren't as glamorous or special and no one will be the wiser. Another benefit of going this route is that you will likely save quite a bit of money on your wedding gown.

Some brides are lucky enough to have a friend or relative working in the fashion business that can create their dress from scratch. If you can find a connection like this then you should be able to manufacture your dream pink wedding dress in no time.

Pink bridesmaid dresses are a more often occurrence in the wedding business. Stores like David's Bridal carry hundreds of styles of dresses in practically any shade you could wish for. One option is to do what many modern brides do and pick a shade of pink and then let your bridesmaids choose which style of dress works best for their particular body type. For a fun and flirty wedding you could go with a hot pink variety of dress. Or if you want a more classic and romantic feel you could definitely go with a light pink shade for your bridesmaids.

No matter what shade of pink or style of dress you choose, one thing is for sure. Looking into the option of pink wedding dresses & pink bridesmaid dresses will not be something you will soon regret (M T).

Bread & Butter Autumn 2010 Trends: Hi-Tops

It felt as though visitors to Bread & Butter were pounding the aisles wearing one of two main footwear options, Red Wings utility boots or 1980s inspired basketball boots. Popular as they are with everyone from retro-obsessed sneaker-freaks to skinny-jeans clad indie-kids, there's plenty of mileage left in hi-tops and every sneaker brand knows it. They may not be pictured but Reebok's 20th anniversary Pump reissues are the strongest styles out there.

Bread & Butter Autumn 2010 Trends: Biker Jackets

The leather biker jacket trend is one that doesn't seem ready to hang up its studs just yet. Reserved almost entirely to the womenswear brigade, autumn 2010's looks were cropped, cut slim and featured subtle studded embellishments. Most exciting were the catwalk inspired styles in cotton with all-over sequin embellishments. The high street has been all over this look for two seasons now and it's likely to go the distance until at least the autumn season.

Bread & Butter Autumn 2010 Trends: The Great Outdoors

Vintage Americana harking back to the archives of the 1950s informed many of the collections on show at Bread & Butter, and rarely was this inspiration more vivid than the outerwear on certain stands. From shearling collared car coats and oiled cotton hunting jackets with multiple pockets and corduroy collars at Filson, through to Lee 101's slimmed down utility jackets and Penfield's Western detailed puffa jackets, this is a look that fits in neatly with our colder winters.

Man Fashion: Were You Dress To Impress?

This is the question that I always want to ask myself and to the readers out there.

My favorite wear is this cargo pants or  button fly jeans with T-shirts, and the most with V-neck sweater or scoop neck sweater. Pack with a pair of white Converse sneaker. Of course, I do received comments from my girlfriend like "Is that what you're going to wear?" which is more like accusation than question to me!

On the other hand, I do put up designer dress suit, shirt and fashion dress shoes, and my favorite blue retro skinny tie when I attend some formal parties with my girlfriend. Oh yes, I do have maroon red as well. :)

The bottom line is I wear clothes I feel comfortable in. For me that's what dressing and fashion is all about. But for most ladies that isn't the case. I am sure you have heard that this question, "Is that what you're going to wear?" countless times. And for all you women out there, unless you're going to physically undress us and then redress us to your specifications, the answer is, "Yes, this is precisely what I'm wearing."

Not because we're (or just myself?) stubborn or provocative but because we either don't know bother or we just feel comfortable with.

End of the day, my fashion philosophy is about comfort and be my own style, as well as fit into the surrounding rather to impress. So how about you? Do share your view here.... :)Source URL: http://icip2idayusof.blogspot.com/2010/01/

Bread & Butter Autumn 2010 Trends: Checks

This is one look that refuses to disappear. Checks were once again out in force at Bread & Butter, and no amount of denim or chambray seems likely to topple the criss-cross pattern from the trends roster. For autumn 2010 it's more of the same with large lumberjack checks taking the spotlight. The trend was moved on most succinctly by brands deploying checks on unusual products; see Post Fire Dew's tartan baseball jacket for reference.

Bread & Butter Autumn 2010 Trends: Rock Inspired Jerseys

All Saints may have propagated the goth-rock look on the high street but directional London brand Religion and its stablemate Buddhist Punk were the originators. Now, Bread & Butter has devoted an entire hall to the look in the shape of Style Society. For autumn, look out for washed out jerseys in extra long vest and T-shirt shapes which can be paired with skinny jeans, leggings or for the more self-confident can be worn simply on their own.

Bread & Butter Autumn 2010 Trends: Collegiate Americana

Varsity-inspired Americana was out in force in Berlin with brands looking to the likes of Richie Cunningham for their sartorial compass. This may be an autumn season but chinos were out again in slightly narrower proportions than their original wide-leg incarnations. Cable-knit jumpers with striped edges and applique crests are also key alongside contrast sleeved baseball jackets with knitted collars and cuffs.

Bread & Butter Autumn 2010 Trends: Modernist Sportswear

Many young fashion brands exhibiting in Berlin, from Fly53 to Psycho Cowboy, took a backwards glance at 1980s sportswear to help inform a colour-drenched wave of modern sports-inspired fashion. Quilted jackets are key to the look. Derived from 1970s skiwear, these slim-fitting shapes are defined by bright primary colours and geometric quilted patterns. Elsewhere, contrast paneled garments compete for attention against sweatshirts with innovative details and in bright colours.

Bread & Butter’s Autumn 2010 Trends

The legions of Brit buyers who turned up in frosty Berlin armed with notebooks, pocket-sized buying budgets, and the hope of unearthing a new menswear trend with enough pulling power to motor flagging sales may well have left Tempelhof Airport feeling slightly deflated.
That is of course if they actually managed to hail themselves a cab. Most visitors endured an hour long wait in sub-zero climes just to reach the head of the queue. For those planning a summer visit a word of advise: ask your hotel to provide you with the telephone number of its preferred cab company, brush up on a little German, and forward-book a pick-up from the Esso station around the corner from the show.
At least our buyers turned out. It could have been the fact that visitors were corralled inside the hangers rather than spilling out onto the outdoor concourse, but Breade & Butter felt busier, buzzier and better than in its first return visit to Berlin last summer. Among those retailers counted and present were Bagga, American Pie, Choice, Richmond Classics, Dr Krueger, Xile, Diffusion, and Asos, to name but a few.
Over the next few days Fashion Buyer will be laying out the main looks and trend themes visible in Berlin before drilling down later in the week to present more of the must-see brands and new collections discovered at both Bread & Butter and Pitti Uomo. Today, we focus on Bread & Butter’s core proposition – denim. Denim was everywhere at the show. From bums to backs there was a widespread return to life in indigo. Source URL: http://icip2idayusof.blogspot.com/2010/01/

Innovative Fits

Without doubt the most exciting denim trend on the autumn 2010 roster are anatomical jeans fits. By cleverly introducing darting techniques to silhouettes, denim designers have continued to subvert jeans silhouettes, creating aggressively tapered carrot shapes as well as thigh-pouched jodhpur shapes for women’s skinny jeans. Pleated details create low-slung harem shapes and the panelled motorcycle jean also made a re-appearance on the women’s rails.  Pictured from top: Miss Sixty (tel: 0039 0871 5891); Mavi Jeans (tel: 0049 6074 407800); Pepe Jeans London (020 7313 3800); Killah (tel: 0039 0871 5891).Source URL: http://icip2idayusof.blogspot.com/2010/01/
