Bread & Butter gets started in Berlin

The drifts of snow piling Berlin's streets did little to deter the swathes of young fashion buyers in town for the autumn 2010 edition of Bread & Butter. The reception hall at Tempelhof Airport was teeming with gravity defying hairstyles, plaid shirts and detail-rich denims for the convivial 10am start time.
Visitors needn't have piled on the chunky knits, leather jackets and puffa coats in fear of the sub-zero temperatures as B&B boss Karl Heinz Muller (pictured below leaning over gallery) delivered on his promise to keep buyers and exhibitors toasty with an inflatable installation wall sheletering the exhibition halls from the chilly airport runway.

With buyers desperate for any menswear trend fresh enough to ignite struggling sales, many eyes willl be looking farther afield than the heavyweight denim brands in an attempt to seek out smaller, more margin-friendly brands such as Humor; brands nimble enough to respond to streetwear trends with a distinctive design handwriting. That said, many eyes will be on Italian big gun Diesel which returns to the  trade fair circuit with a statement-making stand, runway show and fanfare-raising party tonight.
Now, it's time to take to the show. Keep watching Fashion Buyer today for an early trend round-up from the show.Source URL: http://icip2idayusof.blogspot.com/2010/01/bread-butter-gets-started-in-berlin.html
