London Fashion Week: Giles makes it Lotsa Fun Week

While the 70s thing rocked NY, a 1940s mood underpinned a handful of the London shows, with Giles following Erdem into a world of wartime glamour, with pretty polka dots and curvy silhouettes dominating. Waspish waists and heaving bosoms recalled cigarette girls but these vintage tinged femmes were just one among a mish-mash of references at the designer’s London show.

Just as prevalent were ravers in eye-popping intarsia statement knitwear, with tanks, cardies and knitted dresses on show. Glamourpusses of the Italian Riviera swished in on the act next, but the real stars were the details. Clever fringing, sheers, corsets and heavy knits provided plenty of contrast as Giles proved consistency is about attitude, not slavishly repeating the same item. And his attitude puts F, U and N into fashun (sic) as his stellar line up of models, including Agyness Deyn and Kelly Brook, proved. Just enjoy it.Source URL: http://icip2idayusof.blogspot.com/2010/09/london-fashion-week-giles-makes-it.html
