Back in January when Fashion Buyer braved the wintery climes of icy Berlin for the AW10 edition of Bread & Butter, among the most striking advancements was G-Star's new premium handwriting.
Shedding, to some degree, the shackles of its raw denim aesthetic, the utilitarian look which found the brand its initial flurry of fame was trumped by a considered selection of meticulously antiqued denims and wonderfully sumptuous knits. Among our favourites was the Highbury cardigan (pictured), a heavy gauge fisherman's knit with the season's must have shawl collar. This cardie not only weighs an absolute tonne but in this distinctive sowester yellow it provides a bright foil to the brand's softly aged denims for autumn 10. By the way, those very same authentically aged jeans look even stronger for SS10 when G-Star launches the best flood-length carrot leg jean we've seen for spring replete with a darted leg construction and a nifty leather-lined waistband.
Could premium denim buyers be tempted to fall back in love with G-Star?
