Topshop delivers a texture-rich range for autumn 2010

Six months ago, at Arcadia's spring 2010 presentation, it was Miss Selfridge which took the crown for most imaginative and captivating womenswear collection. Whether its samples were late, or the design team was holding back on its presentation in a bid to seize on trends closer to the season, Topshop's spring 10 press day in comparison felt as though it was colouring by numbers, ticking already proven trend boxes rather than breaking the mould in the fresh and exciting way that we have come to expect.

Yesterday, at Arcadia's autumn 2010 press preview, Topshop rolled out its heavy design artillery and in a breathtaking display of creative confidence reclaimed its reputation as high street queen.

Broken down into easily identifiable trend stories, Topshop combined a sophisticated series of runway-inspired interpretations with a street-savvy tough-girl handwriting. Texture was the underlying theme across all these stories with a heavy accent on tribal themes, loose layering, deconstruction, and country sports.Source URL:
