If Galliano’s pre-season mantra was to create a collection crammed with eminently wearable purchasing options then he succeeded. Sidestepping many of spring 10’s most pervasive trends the designer opted for a retro-tinged 1930s-inspired background layered to the hilt. Diaphanous dresses made up from horizontal tiers of floral chiffon and black tulle worked alongside military-inspired trench coats and single-button jackets with peaked shoulders which were adorned with vintage-look brooches. Elsewhere, langtern shaped skirts with bow motifs were paired with dainty front-tie tops and unstructured jackets with rounded notch lapels. The lingerie trend was reference subtly with antique-look lace fringing on floral halters before a show-stopping finale of magical column-length dresses festooned with glittering embellishments, cascading ruffles and lashings of red carpet glamour.
