Swedish lifestyle brand Gant has launched its Rugger Range for spring 10 with a new collegiate Americana handwriting and its first dedicated design team.
Slim silhouettes work from a 1950s preppy handwriting, feeding neatly into the resurgent trend for retro casualwear. Key styles include narrow-fit button-down Oxford shirts in plaids, ginghams and block colours, enzyme washed pique polo shirts, a chambray shawl collared blazer, baseball jackets, and laundered chinos. Other highlights include T-shirts featuring a Gant logo taken from the 1980s, varsity cable knits with a striped band on the arm, brass buttoned blazers, yachting jackets, and an excellent selection of 1950s-inspired beach shorts.
The entire collection is washed down for a soft handle and visible Gant branding is limited to fewer pieces than buyers have come to expect from the brand. Retailers to have bought into the collection for spring 10 include Asos, House of Fraser, Psyche in Middlesbrough, and Rio in Belfast.
