Knowing what gluttons the womenswear market is for an accessory, Fashion Buyer cannot help but perk up when there's a new kid on the scarf block. And given that luxurious printed scarves are the raison d’etre behind new label Mercy Delta, we figured it qualifies as a shopfloor filler. Created by fashion agent Katie Lightfoot and designer Winnie Lee, the debut range kicks off in spring 11 with scarves, wraps and stoles in a mix of luxe fabrications. Core samples are made in a wool/silk mix, while Capri wraps and stoles are a blend of 10% cashmere and 90% Micro-Modal, while camel hair and get an outing too.
Produced in India and Greece, and designed by the two founders, the launch collection has four themes. The South of France Travel collection comes in Mediterranean colours and prints, the English Travel collection in florals and peaches and cream colours and the African Travel collection features animal prints and batik designs. Finally, the Italian Travel Collection is all about classic plain stoles and shawls including the delicate lace Venice shawl. Perfect summer dress accessory? We think so.
