Knitwear with model pedigree

Fashion Buyer has spent enough hours bumper to bumper on both the North and South Circular London ring roads for the very mention of them to send a chill up the spine. How apposite then that cold shiver can be quelled by the expert knitwork created by the team of grannies behind new brand The North Circular.
The brand was dreamt up by model Lily Cole, who together with a couple of pals created the ethically sourced, meet-your-sheep, knitted-by-grannies (really – you can “meet” them at the brand’s website) concept.

Most important though, is the product. And the product is bloomin’ lovely. A heavy circular snood is the signature piece and is joined by a cable knit hood, oversized bobbles and a rib dress among the brand’s current line-up of mostly accessories and a smattering of R2W. Currently the brand boasts 19 styles, mostly for women but with a “pour homme” nod in the jet/navy colourway. Other colours include natural, jet, ruby and grey.

Though distribution is pretty much covered in the capital with the uber trendy Dover Street Market, Start and Harvey Nicks all committed to the brand, the North Circular team is eager to expand UK distribution. Internationally, the store roster is just as sexy with Paris’s Colette and Japan’s Isetan and United Arrows on the register.
