With a website in Gaelic as well as in English, there's a wonderful sense of authenticity about Inis Meain. The knitwear specialist (who we think is pronounced something like in-ish-man, though we're happy to be corrected on that score!) has stockists in Europe, Tokyo and the US, including the hugely respected indie Grey Flannel in London as well as premium US department stores like Barneys and Bergdorf.
Rustic in flavour and expert in execution these knits feed neatly into the islander lifestyle that you would expect from a company based in the Irish Aran isles. Generations of skill are poured into the creation of multi-cable and heavy gauge knits alongside a collection of natural-coloured plaid shirts.
Check out the brand's blog http://inismeain.ie/blog/ and scroll down to see Karl Heinz Muller, owner of 14oz and organiser of Bread and Butter holidaying on the isles with his six (!) kids.
