Pitti Uomo Day One: the story so far

Three hours into the first day at Pitti Uomo and an initial trends-sweep of the commercially-led central hall, the Padigloione Centrale, reveals distinct nautical flavours, a neo-preppy handwriting, optimistic prints and colourways, and growing support of the double-breasted silhouette. An increasing appetite for a more louche sartorial aesthetic informs many of the collections housed in the Padiglione Centrale, be they shirt specialists or tailoring houses.

Loosely constructed, relaxed tailoring in washed-out cotton continues to provide the direction for formalwear brands from Lardini to Tombolini, brands which only two seasons ago were anchored by angular and traditonal suiting. And, revenue-churning shirt brands such as Eton are plotting their future growth through a younger 20-something consumer group who are turned-on less by nine-to-five conformity and more by casual styling distinguished by trend-led details such as bib-fronts and club collars.
Fashion Buyer will begin delving deeper into each Pitti Uomo trend later today. Tune back in at around 4pm for our next update. Pictured from top: Brooks Brothers; Camplin.Source URL: http://icip2idayusof.blogspot.com/2010/06/pitti-uomo-day-one-story-so-far.html
