Cat Footwear has undergone more changes in the last three years than the line-up of Sugababes, and after a dramatic series of strategic shifts has ended up in autumn 2010 with one of its most fashion-forward collections to date.
Builders, synonymous with two things, the Dagenham Smile and the infamous steel toed Cat work boot, are still fully catered for by the footwear brand, but now there're just as much chance of a trend-led shopper picking up on Cat Footwear, particularly its Legendary Raw collection.
Standout styles on the men's side include various heights of strapped-to-the-hilt biker boots, lace-through loggers, creased toe Chelsea boots, moccasin construction utility boots, and an excellent suede lace-up shoe; all featuring Cat Footwear's fully welted construction.
The women's collection has improved even more significantly and now includes faux sheepskin-lined logger and biker boots, Belstaff-inspired biker boots, and a set of on-trend native American style mocassins in suede.
"There's been a massive turnaround in the last three years," says Cat Footwear's managing director Derek Bowen. "We're in really strong multiples like Kurt Geiger, Jones, Sole Trader and Schuh, but we've also dramatically increased our independent business." According to Bowen, when he joined the business he culled 160 accounts from the distribution in a bid to create a stronger platform for growth. Today, the business has 300 accounts and over 400 doors.
Looking to the future Bowen says: "The challenge now is evolve and grow. We've proven that we can change buyers' mindsets and improved our product dramatically. The return to heritage on the trends front is so right for us as a brand and now we need to capitalise on that while developing our sports-led seasonless business."Source URL: http://icip2idayusof.blogspot.com/2010/06/cat-footwear-marks-its-three-year.html
