Fashion Buyer is a massive fan of the current Ivy League revivalist trend. And, although we still need convincing that the bow tie can be worn successfully without derailing into sartorial comedy, brands like New York's Pierrepont Hicks put up an extremely strong argument to the contrary.
Developed by husband and wife team Mac and Kat McMillan, each reversible tie is hand manufactured in New York's garment district. It was while sourcing kilt fabrics for their Scottish wedding that the duo fell in love with plaids and checks. Upon their return to the States, Kat decided to use the fashion experiences developed while working at Ralph Lauren's Black label to help develop the Pierrepont Hicks collection. Now in its second season, the range has expanded to include slim ties and bow-ties.
The pictures featured above are taken from the current spring 10 collection. And, as if a handmade tie wasn't enough each item comes with its own individual thankyou note. As far as we know nobody in the UK is stocking the brand yet; certainly an opportunity for some canny buyer.
