Is it just us or does the buying season seem to rumble round quicker each year? Whether that is the truth or just the perceptions of an over-excited fashion journalist it was a real thrill today to pick up a missive from Pitti Immagine, highlighting the goings on at the next Pitti Uomo menswear show in Florence on January 11 to 14.
And we are chuffed to report that among the headline appearance at the season-opening show will be the presentation of ARP - the Archive Research Project, which has seen menswear designer Aitour Throup trawl through Umbro's archive to present a distillation of 87 years of sportswear (the Manchester company was founded in 1924). An iconic British football range? That could just be a commercial nugget for any premium UK retailer.
Also at the show will be the Slowear Group, showing off the Liberty London menswear range which was licensed out this year, at a special event on the night of the 12th.
What else? Well, American designer Adam Kimmel will be showing "a new project" at the fair. We've popped a few shots from his dapper spring 11 show in here just in case you're not familiar with his pretty sharp oeuvre. And US brand Arrow will lift the lid on its European launch collection, which Fashion Buyer expects to be a hearty tilt at the menswear market with a full apparel collection.
Frankly we can't wait. But if all this is not enough to tempt you into buying the airplane fare, then please remember that we will be bringing you the news - and looks - straight from the show, right here, daily.Source URL: http://icip2idayusof.blogspot.com/2010/12/pitti-highlights-to-come.html
