Walk this way with Walsh

Among the highlights at London menswear exhibition Stitch last week was British sports footwear brand Walsh. Originally conceived as a fell-running shoe, the collection has been reappraised for the mainstream fashion market.

The main collection has six styles in 32 colourways. With its contrast-colour suede/nylon upper and chunky aesthetic the range feels like a credible homage to 1980s football casuals. The brand has already spun off a collaboration with cult London designer Margaret Howell, and has also included a Made In Britain fell-running style in its collection for heritage-led, shoe-gazing buyers. You know who you are.
Fronting the fantastic brand is former JD Sports marketing director Tim Gardiner, and what Mr Gardiner doesn't know about the UK sportswear market is probably not worth worrying about.

Wholesale prices are £22 for the main collection and £85 for the British made shoes. For more information call 01925 217282, or visit www.normanwalsh.com.
