Countdown to Pure London

With just over a week to go before Pure London swings open the doors on its Spring 2011 edition it's worth Fashion Buyer giving a little update on what to expect, particularly as we have been drafted in by the Pure team to help develop the catwalk content.

Fashion Buyer's Khabi Mirza and Steve Spear will be introducing a series of trend-led seminars aimed at the young fashion sector. Let's face it, UK independent retailers specialising in branded young fashion operate in the most challenging retail environment in the world. Shopping is the nation’s favourite pastime and we live in an era defined by a generation of trend-hungry shoppers who are more fashion-literate and less brand loyal than ever before. Providing the backdrop for these consumers is the most sophisticated high street fashion in the world. Populated by household names from Topshop to River Island, the UK high street has carved an international reputation for its conveyor-belt approach to injecting catwalk-inspired trends at break-neck speed and at pocket-money prices.

Faced with such intense competition today’s independents need to not only be business-savvy retail operators but must also be armed with a soothsayer-like ability to predict the most commercial trends up to six months before they land in-store. Designed to help replace this crystal-ball gazing with a more scientific approach are Pure London’s new series of seminars hosted by Steve Spear and Khabi Mirza which not only reveal next season’s hottest high street looks but also offer an insight into how buyers can mirror these trends by buying into the collections available at Pure London.
