The very English brand Alexander Boyd has embraced a country gent look for autumn 11.
“But it’s not too eccentric,” warns sales manager Jason Roberts. “The idea is to be clear about the Englishness and then to make it easy to wear. It’s not about fancy dress.” To that end, the cable detailed cricket jumpers, penny round collared shirts, corduroy and moleskin trousers all come in easy to wear and muted colours.
A mix of blue, tan, green and cream is interspersed with washed out checks on shirts and the sorts of herringbone tweeds that proved popular across Pitti and which a heritage Anglo brand like Boyd has every right to make hay from. Not that it was all about nostalgic anglophilia, and in the guise of coated jackets, waxed blousons and washed waxed trench coats there was a technical edge to the ranges. And in its shawl collared cardigans in navy, green and burgundy the brand offered up a stand out piece.
Wholesale prices go from £25 for ties up to £350 for some of the outerwear. Knits come in at about £100.
