Hilfiger Vs Haring

It's press days week, a three day marathon of presentations dotted around London where fashion brands and PR agencies show off next season's wares to an ever growing gaggle of wafer thin, shoe-gazing fashion hacks.
Over the next few days Fashion Buyer will bring our highlights from the countless showrooms starting with the above pics from Tommy Hilfiger. This natty little collaboration unfortunately misses this summer but will be available for autumn delivery. Uniqlo cleverly used some Haring prints for its 2009 T-shirts range but with the 1980s still hot in streetwear, we can't help thinking that these Haring print sneakers will still look damn tough in 2010.

Womenswear autumn 10 trend story one: Town and Country

OK, so this is the first of the trends Chris Gilbert isolated for autumn 10. We've tweaked them a little to concentrate on the themes and details that dominate the looks. And for this one the shorthand is simple: think remixed Sloane Ranger. Gilbert alludes to the 1950s with A-line skirts and to equestrian themes with jodhpurs in the sportswear mix. Details include toggles, neutral coloured leathers and fur trims. Fabrics are plaids and tweeds, shearling, leather and suede alongside soft handle knits. Colours are luxurious camel and the red of hunting pinks set against a background of grey. Brigadoon-style checks and alpine intarsias spice up this preppy look.

Man Fashion: Tommy Hilfiger's Spring 2009 Collection @ NYFW

Another fashion designer from New York Fashion Week, Tommy Hilfiger rolled out his Spring 2009 Collection with some big guns, including stylist George Cortina and DJ Jeremy Healy.

The mood was patrician: navy blazer, preppy pastel slacks, silk tie, or a suit and trenchcoat in the same shade of gray. A pale blue jacket paired with narrow navy pants felt like the sort of thing Alain Delon might have worn.

Though the show notes mentioned "the explosive freedom of early eighties dressing," it actually felt a little sixties, Hollywood-style, like these were the sort of clothes an account exec.

White and black are still the my ultimate choice, navy pants with white designer shoe look gorgeous.
