Nautical holiday styling informs George for Spring 10

George jumps on the continuing nautical trend for spring with a collection jam-packed with budget priced holiday styles. Highlights include George’s update of the classic Breton T-shirt with a cord detail running through a set of donut rivets around the neckline and an inspired 1980s-inspired slouchy slash-necked jersey with striped off-shoulder sleeves and a sequin-striped body. The dockside trend was reinforced by a longer-lined cotton cardigan in white with a contrast blue trim and gold buttons as well as a laundered cotton tea dress with a striped body and a floral print skirt.

George’s spring 10 dresses also deserve a mention referencing as they do the cleverly darted tailored styles championed by designers Roland Mouret and more recently Victoria Beckham. Standout styles include a knee length dress with darted details and a dramatic neckline of tightly arranged origami-like folds which vyed for attention alongside a knitted bias-cut sleeveless dress with a slightly extended shoulder and a fit and flare silhouette. But, Fashion Buyer UK’s favourite style for next season has to be the vintage-look 1950s inspired dress in an oversized floral print set against a black background with a matching belt.
